Main purpose of the role:


To ensuring that the results of inspection and testing are recorded correctly on the appropriate certificates / reports, produce NICEIC certification and support engineers with technical queries as and when required.

Monitor contract residual values and the performance of electricians on your contracts

Develop a good working relationship with your team of electricians, supporting their performance, dealing with technical and SOR queries, to retain and grow your own talent


Job Description:

  • Assist with the procurement of materials for contracts ensuring purchase orders are issued and goods purchased are the best price and appropriate for the job.
  • Ensure the results of inspection and testing are recorded correctly on the appropriate certificates/reports and sign off NICEIC certification by electrician as appropriate.
  • Provide support and technical assistance to electricians, colleagues and support staff when required.
  • Ensure submission of certs are sent to all clients within time frame as per service level agreement and individual KPI's.
  • To undertake QS inspection audits & visits in relation to existing and future engineers on your contracts, including 'have your say surveys', identifying areas for development and discuss any concerns with the Senior QS as and when required.
  • To plan and attend weekly, fortnightly, or monthly 121 and toolbox meetings with your electricians.
  • Plan and manage the annual leave of your electricians ensuring the appropriate notice is given so service is not affected.
  • Attend the appropriate handovers with the Senior QS, attend service meetings relevant to your contracts and ensure information is communicated to your teams, collaborating with your contract coordinator as and when required.
  • Assist the HR team with technical interviews when recruiting electricians with the correct qualifications and experience as and when required.
  • Assist with the inductions of new electricians, including practical assessments or site visits and ensure audits and observations are completed within the first 5 days, to ensure competency, as and when required.
  • Monitor the performance and communication of your electricians, review certs and works completed, in order to recruit trainers, to enable Goom Electrical to grow their own talent.
  • To achieve personal and team KPI's ensuring the number of completed jobs meet the business and clients' needs and expectations.
  • Ensure all electricians work to the contract spec, with safety at the forefront and to ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures.
  • Support the SOR process, deal with queries in relation to electricians working on your contracts and within your control.
  • Continually seeking opportunities to enhance relationships with engineers and quality service provision to clients, with a view to grow the business.
  • Ensuring company values are practiced and measured within your teams.
  • To carry out or assist in any other activity or task as and when directed by senior management.
  • Fully Qualified Electrician ideally NICEIC registered (not essential but will need to register)
  • Level 3 Testing & Inspection qualification, 2391 or equivalent
  • Level 3 Installations qualification 2330 or equivalent
  • 18th Edition
  • Minimum 5years of previous experience of electrical installations and repairs, inspection and testing, emergency lighting and fire alarm service, maintenance and installation.
  • Understand the Electricity at Work Regulations, current edition of BS 7671, and the Codes of Practice and guidance documents relevant to the range of electrical work undertaken.
  • Understand the inspection, testing, verification, certification and reporting procedures for the range of electrical work undertaken.
  • Knowledge of all electrical systems in domestic and commercial settings
  • Have an understanding of schedule of rates
  • IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Be able to support, coach, encourage and develop a team of electrical professionals, so a person of character is essential.
  • The ability and confidence to train and supervise others.
  • Keep your electrical qualifications up to date, completing refresher training when regulations or legislations dictate.
