HGV MIG Fitter / Welder

Perm Placements Ltd are working on behalf of our prestigious client, who have been in business since the early 1900's and they are the UK's market leader in the manufacture of Waste management vehicles. There famous brand name is seen on the front of leading waste management companies cabs everyday across the United Kingdom's streets.


Our client is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and dynamic multi-disciplined,
HGV MIG Fitter / Welder to join there Aldridge team.


Job Purpose:

To carry out repair, refurbishment, & installation work. To ensure correct output is achieved to the correct build/repair time following the correct processes.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsible for carrying out repairs, refurbishment and installation work to a high standard withing quoted hours on a wide variety of Refuse Collection Vehicles and other equipment.


All work is to be carried out to the highest standards whilst following the business processes and relevant health & safety procedures.


Fitter Welder, Aldridge

  • Salary up to £32,409 pa DOE
  • Overtime paid at 1.5 Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday x2 and Bank holiday's at x2 plus day in lieu.

  • Aldridge, Walsall
  • Hours 45 hpw, between 07:00 and 16:30 Monday to Friday
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Criteria

Essential / Desirable

Knowledge

  • General MIG welding E
  • Experience of mediumheavy fabrication of steel & welding (2mm10mm) E
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings E
  • Production process D

Experience

  • Experience in MIG welding E
  • Experience of mediumheavy fabrication of steel & welding (2mm10mm) E
  • Experience in mechanical and hydraulic fitting D
  • Organisational awareness D

Education / Qualifications

  • Welding/Fabrication Qualifications E
  • Qualified to BSEN 287 Approved coding D
  • Overhead crane training D
  • Relevant training courses in fitting, hydraulics & pneumatics D

Job-related skills & abilities

  • Ability to work to a quoted time E
  • General hydraulic and mechanical fitting D
  • Computer literate D
  • Selfmotivated with a 'Can Do' attitude E
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively E
  • Ability to build and tack weld fabrication from a drawing and then complete welding E

Other requirements

  • Working in awkward, confined positions, climbing over vehicle E
  • Overtime when required D
  • Ability & willingness to travel throughout the UK when required D
  • Willingness to learn new skills E
  • Full driving license, able to drive to offsite facilities D

Quality & Environmental Responsibilities:

Responsible for the management, compliance and upkeep of the quality & environmental procedures, records, and documents relevant to the role


Please note that you may be asked to carry out tasks other than the above that are deemed by your manager to be appropriate, reasonable and within the remit of your role. You will be expected to carry out these ad hoc tasks as requested.
