The Medical Education Department at Watford General Hospital are looking for a Undergraduate UCL Co-ordinator.


Our main aim in Medical Education is to support the training, development and wellbeing of our medical students and doctors.

The Trust provides a wide range of training schemes from Undergraduates UCL and St Georges University students to Postgraduate training schemes for trainees from the East of England across a variety of specialties.


We are extremely committed to delivering a high quality service to all of those who use our wide-range of services and with our developing programmes and partnerships this is an exciting opportunity to become involved with a significant and developing area of medical education.


We are therefore looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to provide a full range of administrative support to the Undergraduate Tutor in the delivery of the Year 5 & Year 6 University College London (UCL) Placements for the Trust.

The post holder will be an integral part of the team and will play a key role in identifying and delivering ever-evolving curriculum requirements.


  • 5pm (37.5 hours) Monday to Friday.


The post holder will assume the administrative responsibility for the delivery of the Undergraduate curriculum, working in partnership with our clinical leads in planning and delivering Year 5 and year 6 clinical placements, teaching programmes, pastoral care and educational opportunities for UCL medical Students.


To plan and organise Inductions for undergraduates in liaison with the Medical Education Manager and Undergraduate Tutor including booking speakers, collating and producing Induction packs.

To provide lead administrative support to nationally recognised courses, e.g. OSCEs

To assist in the delivery of the governance process of Medical Education.

To provide support to the Medical Education Team for larger events and during peak periods


To manage all accommodation units for medical students ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard and overseeing cleaning and maintenance liaison with the Medical Education Managers.

The post holder will be responsible for the advising and communicating of all departmental placement rotation details and for providing all information regarding access and location.


The key relationships for this post holder will be the Medical Education Lead, Medical Education Team, UCL Undergraduate Tutor, SGU Undergraduate Tutor, Associate Medical Director for Education and Training, Clinical Tutors, Clinical Skills Facilitator Medical School Staff at University College London (UCL).


They will monitor the performance of supervisors in support of students and identify students who have had a poor assessment score and informing the Tutors.


To have direct responsibility to liaise with the Medical Schools and the Undergraduate Tutor to ensure that all undergraduate attachments are carried out in accordance with their guidelines and to decide best course of action for each student - to include confirming attachments, arranging induction, gathering evaluations, issuing keys, issuing all ID Cards, parking permits, organising IT access, organising issue of SmartCards and access to clinical results.


To ensure accommodation is booked for students on placement and key access arrangements out of hours and to maintain this to a high standard and overseeing cleaning and maintenance liaison with the Medical Education management team.


To work in partnership with the Undergraduate Tutor to prepare the Undergraduate Teaching programmes, including bedside teaching, practical skills, identifying speakers and arranging catering.

To work alongside the Clinical Skills Facilitator and Medical Education Fellow to plan and ensure the delivery of the skills programme for Undergraduate students.

To provide support and pastoral care for all medical students
