We are currently recruiting for a Stores Assistant to work for Derbyshire Constabulary at their headquarters in Ripley.You will be working Monday to Friday Mon - Thurs Friday hours a week.
This will be Working in a Warehouse environment, Lifting, Carrying, Picking/Packing, Organising, Booking in Parcels,
Please note if successful upon interview you will be required to undergo Police Vetting and you will need to have resided within the UK continuously for at least 3 years.
PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB ROLE:
To maintain a supply service for uniform, protective equipment and stationery to all officers and staff and to maintain a goods inwards service for the Force Headquarters complex
SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To maintain the goods inwards function for the Force, notifying customers of deliveries required for collection.
- To facilitate the handling process and security of goods during storage, and issue or dispatch items as required.
- To monitor the goods which are received, ensuring that only items of the required type and/or quality are taken into stock and raise any discrepancies with the originating source or supplier.
- To validate invoices received from suppliers and pass to Finance for payment.
- To reconcile incoming goods received against despatch notes.
- To assist in forecasting stock levels and to place orders with external suppliers for uniform and protective equipment and associated items.
- To ensure that stock and goods are maintained in good condition, are easily located and rotated as necessary.
- To be responsible for measuring and equipping new and existing personnel with the appropriate uniform and personal protective equipment.
- To dispose of items of uniform and personal protective equipment in accordance with management guidelines. To review and challenge inconsistent requests for uniform, equipment and stationery.
- To maximise reutilisation of goods returned to Stores in order to reduce waste and provide budgetary savings.
- To undertake general housekeeping duties in the Stores warehouse to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- To assist with the taking of ID photographs. Conduct periodic stock checks as required.
- To maintain relevant records accurately. Pick and Pack orders received in line with customer requests.
- To answer queries on uniform, equipment and stationery items from customers.
- To undertake daytoday duties required in Stores as directed by the Central Business Support Manager.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
- To have experience of working in a stores and distribution warehouse environment.
- To undertake manual handling of items of uniform, equipment and other deliveries.
- To be physically fit enough to lift and transport heavy objects.
- To have experience of dealing with customer enquiries in a busy environment.
- To demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both in writing and verbally
Desirable:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of electronic stock control and electronic ordering systems
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- To have experience of handling data, accurately inputting, retrieving and searching for information on computer databases.
- To have experience of effectively managing filing systems both electronic and paper based
