Hexcel is currently seeking a Shift Team Leader (rotating 12 hour night and day shifts) for our Duxford, UK location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • To supervise all Operators in area of responsibility. To deal with attendance and timekeeping, PPE, safe operations and compliance with company policies and procedures, including the discipline and grievance procedure.
  • To contact Maintenance in the event of machine breakdowns and decide what resources need to be allocated to resolve issues. You will also be required to issue Work Permits.
  • To enable production process run as efficiently as possible by ensuring all raw materials, labour and shop packets are ready before the start of each job and that best possible machine turnaround times are occurring.
  • To help troubleshoot production and other issues within the realms of his/her responsibilities. To take responsibility for ensuring that problems are dealt with in a timely fashion and communicated.
  • To monitor operator training and performance and carry out appraisals on a 6 monthly basis and document.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent experience
  • The jobholder should ideally have a sound knowledge of the manufacturing processes.
  • Will have previous experience of working within a production environment, leading and motivating a team; confident in dealing with day to day issues and excellent organisational skills.
  • Should have attended a supervisors training course and demonstrated some skills in managing people.
  • Have a basic knowledge of and demonstrated the use of computer skills including AX201
  • Have knowledge in all aspects of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have a good understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools such as KPI's, 5S, and SMED.
