Mott MacDonald Bentley, along with Anglian Water and partners, have recently gained permission to begin the design work to build a modern, low carbon waste water treatment plant to provide vital services for the community and environment which will recycle water and nutrients, produce green energy and help Greater Cambridge to grow sustainably.


Known as the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Relocation Project, Mott MacDonald Bentley, along with Anglian Water and partners are to help deliver this fantastic opportunity for the Greater Cambridgeshire area.


The relocation would make the site of the existing WWTP available to form part of the development of a new low-carbon city district, known as North East Cambridge.

The site at Cowley Road, is Cambridge's last major brownfield site, and the wider North East Cambridge district proposals envisage creating around 8,350 homes and 15,000 jobs over the next 20 years.

To achieve our quest for planning excellence, we are looking for an experienced and driven
Lead Planner to join the team.


What will you be doing as our new Lead Planner?


Whilst leading and developing a team towards planning excellence, you'll ensure the project plan and programme are kept on track with any mitigating circumstances successfully overcome.

By using your knowledge and expertise in planning, you'll build the trust and confidence of key stakeholder by delivering project updates backed up by value
- added data which can contribute to delivery improvements as we progress.


Key responsibilities:


Preparation and monitoring of plans**:

Lead and manage the programme development and delivery for Cambridge Relocation Project that considers all constraints and addresses risk including DCO constraints and all ES commitments.


Programme Development**:
Lead the development of the project plan and programme.

The plan should consider all constraints and resource requirements leading to the development of a project programme that covers all time dependant activities from design through to handover.


Strategic Planning**:

Interrogate the programme and identify areas for improvements, increased productivity, risk reduction, minimise carbon, and potential issues across the whole project.

Use this detailed understanding of the programme to deliver strategic planning decisions.

Health & Safety**:
Ensure that the project plan allows delivery of excellent health and safety performance and all activity aligns with our mantra of 'Nothing is so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely'

Communication and quality of plans**:

Develop the resource planning against the project and programme needs ensuring the critical path and key activities are detailed to the team and key stakeholders through data and reports as required.


Collaboration/ Stakeholder management**:

Form collaborative relationships with the project key stakeholders and others within the programme, and balance the competing tensions of time, cost and quality to successfully deliver outcomes.


People/ team development:
Create an environment where the team are supported, yet challenged, to develop themselves and the team capabilities to deliver an industry
- leading planning facility.

Transformation:
Lead and drive a culture that inspires your team to experiment, deliberately-deliver-differently, innovate and continuously improve performance.


A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviour

  • Experience of planning civils, water, wastewater or MEICA for major projects, from solution to handover
  • An experienced manager of people and teams, developing others, and managing staff welfare by being a visible and approachable leader.
  • Comfortable using P6 and 4D software.
  • Proven experience of NEC programme delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with a range of groups with conflicting priorities.
  • Can demonstrate resiliency in challenging circumstances
