Buyer - Manufacturing and Production environmentThe Opportunity:
A superb opportunity for an experienced Buyer who enjoys dealing with all aspects of purchasing.
Working within this busy manufacturing / engineering environment, your buying responsibilities will include sourcing of new suppliers, contract negotiation, expediting and ensuring stock availability to allow production to be optimised.
You will need to be computer literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (in particular Excel ) and POP systems.
It is essential that you offer purchasing experience within a manufacturing or production business, and have an understanding of MRP, expediting orders and an awareness of bills of materials and production requirements driven through them.
Key Responsibilities:
To motivate, on behalf of the Company, effective supplier relationships, balancing security of supply, cost effectiveness, commitment, and access to market innovation
To manage a range of suppliers, ensuring timely supply of the right components are delivered at the right price, right time and right place
To lead and execute tendering, negotiating, contracting and contract management activities which represent best value for money for the Company
To develop, build and maintain collaborative working relationships with suppliers
To conduct and manage supplier reviews; looking at long term supplier performance, service and full value analysis using KPI's and balance scorecard metrics
To facilitate the introduction of new potential suppliers whilst maintaining the strategy of reducing the supplier database through consolidation and leverage projects
To maintain supplier data, including pricing, contracts, review meeting schedules and relevant supplier up-to-date information
To visit new and existing suppliers, and maintaining good relationships with them.
To produce reports and statistics using ERP outputs and other market intelligence inputs
Preferred Skills:
Experience of purchasing, supply management, logistics, manufacturing and engineering techniques & processes.
