Job summary:


The purpose of this role is to use our data to create scalable and repeatable insight to support decision making across South Pole.

You will primarily work in Tableau with a wider team of data analysts and data engineers.

As such the role is part of the Data and Insights team within the Information Technology in Corporate Services and reports directly to the Analytics Manager for the Analytics and Reporting Team.


You will be responsible for creating compelling data insight for the entire organisation, interpreting, analysing and displaying data in a way that makes it easy to understand and digest the insight.

You will enable insight to be used at scale and as a repeatable process and therefore part of your role will be business focused.

You will develop, deploy and maintain our dashboards and work closely with the wider team of data engineers and data analysts to do so.


Your role will encompass business requirements gathering, wireframes, define data requirements and build dashboards based on a wide variety of data.

You will support creation of best practice processes and identification of enabling technologies. You might also be responsible for ad-hoc reporting and light data modelling for quick BI requests. As such, you will be comfortable supporting multiple initiatives at once.

Main tasks & responsibilities:


  • Develop, build, maintain and continuously our insight dashboards at scale, for a rapidly growing global company
  • Analyse and organise raw data and support our data engineers in building sustainable data pipelines
  • Explore and implement ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Work with users to gather business requirements and turn these into wireframes, data requirements and build solutions that meet expectations whilst incorporating and suggesting improvements
  • Collaborate with wider team to support generation of scalable and repeatable insight from data
  • With with structured, semistructured and unstructured data
  • Be flexible and support adhoc requests as and when required
  • Versioning dashboards and actively support ongoing maintenance, improvement, management and retirement when needed

Requirements:

Essential

  • Degree educated
  • Experience working with commercial data
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience building scalable data pipelines
  • Good experience of SQL databases, both relational and nonrelational
  • Knowledge and experience using common opensource languages for data modelling/ETL, e.g. Python and SQL
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (we work on GCP)
  • Strong background working in Tableau for scalable solutions
  • Experience working with APIs
  • Experience with business requirements gathering and agile ways of working
Desirable

  • Have experience working with Google Cloud infrastructure and Salesforce
  • Data Analytics experience and knowledge of machine learning, forecasting and statistical techniques
