We are seeking a detail-orientated Credit Controller to join our finance team.


As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for the daily running of credit control process and procedures ensuring monies due to APC are controlled and collected in line with APC terms of payment.

Ensure customers exposures are kept within set limits. Assist the Credit Manager to establish, review and maintain customer credit limits. Promote high levels of customer service, build and maintain customer relationships.


Main Duties

  • Ensure customer collection activity notes are maintained.
  • Control & elimination of aged debts.
  • Generate and distribute monthly and weekly customer statements.
  • Produce and maintain contra balance reporting.
  • Contact internal customers to agree contra balances and ensure monthly contra payments are received to terms.
  • Produce and maintain external customer stop lists providing updates to relevant depots.
  • Post payment receipts, allocating receipts into Oracle.
  • Schedule Direct Debit payments.
  • Prompt response to customer queries.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve disputes.
  • Support Credit Manager to establish credit limits providing support on depot limit reviews.
  • Utilise Experian credit check reporting to monitor credit ratings and recommend limits maintain customer records and reporting.
  • Maintain and action risk alerts from Experian monitoring service, prioritising any adverse information.
  • Regularly review exposure figures taking appropriate action to keep customers within set limits.
  • Ensure customer master data records are maintained.
  • Prepare weekly depot exposure reporting.
  • General accounting and administration duties that the position may require.

Skills/Requirements:


  • Minimum 2 years credit control experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Able to build effective and strong relationships with customers.
  • Excel Skills including knowledge of VLOOKUP and pivots.
  • Proficient is Microsoft office and accounting software.
  • Previous experience of using Oracle desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Previous experience/exposure to accounting roles.
  • Experience of dealing with high volumes of contra balances desirable.
As this role develops you may be required to develop your skills further.
