Sherborne Girls is excited to recruit an ambitious and innovative leader as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to lead on supporting our pupils in this busy and vibrant full-boarding environment.

We are seeking an exceptional teacher with a proven track record of outstanding, inspirational and innovative teaching and learning over a sustained period of time.

They will have the skills to lead others through best practice, sharing ideas freely and inspiring others across the School.

This role would suit an aspiring practitioner and the appointed person will be fully supported in their professional development in this role.


Main Responsibilities
The SENDCo will take responsibility for meeting the individual needs of all pupils at the School. They will be an experienced teacher with the leadership and management skills to oversee a holistic education.

  • Responsible for what the teachers know about pupil needs, how they respond and the level of their commitment to outstanding personalised learning and differentiation.
  • In collaboration with the Deputy Head (Academic), the Director of Studies and the Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning), monitoring the standard of practice across all teaching staff, managing the impact on pupil progress and ensuring continued Professional Development for all involved in meeting the individual needs of pupils
  • Deployment of Learning Support teachers and tutors
  • The efficient management of SEND Information in collaboration with the Health Centre Manager
  • Working with parents and staff to develop a better understanding of learning needs and the importance of raising achievement among pupils
