Technology Department (TD) is part of the National Laboratories organisation within the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). It exists to provide technology, engineering and support to STFC's current and future facilities and programmes.

We are looking for an exceptional Risk and Governance Manager with proven background in Risk Assurance development, processes & rollout, to work in collaboration with Senior Staff across functions such as Project Management and Business Processes to ensureSTFC will continue to thrive technically should the unexpected happen?

The key responsibilities will be:


  • Coordinating/advising/leading on Risk Management within TD
  • Coordinating TD contribution to the Risk Management agenda
  • Recommend/review TD Risk Management processes
  • Constantly review and escalate any new or changing risks that need to be considered for the corporate risk register
  • Manage the TD Business Continuity process, including Business Impact Assessments and testing robustness regularly
  • There will be a requirement to undertake general support functions as directed given the bandwidth of the teams support activity. These tasks may include, but not be limited to, acting as point of contact between Bids, Project Managers, and Project Managementactivity. Supporting general business processes including the TD Bid Register. Financial reporting. STFC currently uses ORACLE for its financial reporting delivery.

About you

  • Ideally you will hold a professional certification from a risk management professional organisation
  • Experience of managing risk in a public or notforprofit organisation
  • Experience of collaborative working with other organisations
  • Familiar with embedding a risk management framework, including helping Project Managers to identify and control risks
  • Be able to demonstrate action and risk mitigation you have personally introduced
