Group Health and Safety Advisor**
Hours:Full Time 37 hours, Monday - Friday
Salary:
up to £35,000 per annum DOE
Location:
Taunton - (Travel to other sites will include Somerset, Wiltshire, and Devon)

The Role
We are looking to recruit a
Group Health & Safety Advisor based at our Taunton Support Centre, and regularly visit our wonderful residents and teams in our care homes as well as office-based colleagues.
This is an excellent opportunity for a positive and collaborative individual to support the H&S side of our business to meet the relevant standards required and make sure our colleagues are supported with health and safety matters.
This role would suit an organised and solution focused individual looking to take the next steps on their health and safety career.
Main Duties include:
- Supporting Somerset Care in meeting its Health and Safety obligations and aims
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders to influence and promote good H&S practice.
- Providing advice, support and guidance to managers and colleagues to ensure their understanding of key H&S policies and procedures (e.g. The H&S management system, risk assessment requirements, safety updates and notices etc)
- Dealing with reports and project activities which will include maintaining action plans.
- Maintaining understanding and knowledge of current relevant legislation
- Working with our Learning and Development teams to provide health and safety training.
- Working closely with and contributing to the Health & Safety Sub Committee
- Arranging visits for inspections by statutory agencies
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to achieve a positive H&S culture and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Supporting operational managers with incident investigations and reports
About you
- Experience working in a Health & Safety environment/role.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate / TechIOSH is a
minimum requirement. - Experience in the care sector is desirable.
- Good communication skills which show an understanding of how to engage with key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes, including influencing/coaching skills and an ability to develop managers and their team's approach to safety.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- A keen eye for detail
- A good knowledge of audit
- As this role required the post holder to visit our care homes and offices, a full UK driving license and their own transport is essential.
