Business Education Partnership (UK) Ltd, known as BEP Group, is a registered Charity and was established in 1992.

Currently, we have two main areas of work:

work experience for children agreed between 14 and 19; and alternative education for children who have been partly or completely removed from mainstream school (or who are risk of becoming NEET).

Our Alternative Provision is delivered through our registered Independent School, BEP Academy.


Job description
Aim

Working as part of a pastoral team you will


School Management
be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Basildon school site


Safeguarding
ensure that the welfare of children is safeguarded


Student admission and behaviour
ensure students are aware of and adhere to the school's behaviour policy


Record keeping and school Liaison
ensure that all interventions with students are recorded and communicated to referring schools and other professionals.


Collaborative working

School management


You will directly line-manage on-call Inclusion Mentors, liaising with the Principal and Head of School Romford, you will complete one to one meetings, staff appraisals and set staff targets.


Whilst tutors are line-managed by the VP (Teaching and Learning), you will be responsible for ensuring that there is sufficient staff cover throughout the day and that break rotas are in place.

Lead on the daily morning meeting to ensure all school staff are briefed/de-briefed regarding students.

Liaise with senior colleagues regarding student discipline, potential referrals or changes to a student's programme.


Working with our facilities manager, ensure the building is safe for all users and secured at the end of each day.

In the case of an emergency or criminality, ensure that:
i. the relevant emergency service is contacted (this could be done from the head office)

ii. the head office is informed as soon as reasonably practicable

iii. schools and parents are informed as soon as reasonably practicable

g. ensure staff and students have a positive impact in the local area/community and address any concerns from local people (complaints must be recorded and dealt with centrally)

h. Organise and attend events, as appropriate (e.g. transition event, parent's evening, student induction sessions, extracurricular activities)

Safeguarding

Working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and the Safeguarding Manager (SM), to ensure children are safeguarded which may include attending meetings, informing appropriate individuals and complete paperwork and update database as necessary, ensuring confidentiality (may involve some unsocial hours)

Be aware of and follow child protection guidance protocols in all aspects of the role

To deputise for the DSL or SM at meetings where necessary, and liaise with external professionals regarding Child Protection

d. Liaise with Vice Principal, Teaching & Learning regarding any special considerations with regards to SEN or LAC students

e. Ensure that all health care plans for students with specific medical requirements are in place and in line with company procedure and medicines are stored and issued correctly and appropriate levels of first-aid provision is available

f. Support attendance team with following-up poor attendance and timekeeping with parents and students to keep students motivated and focused and hold meetings where required

g. Maintain contact with and update, where applicable, partner organisations and agencies (e.g. Connexions, EWOs, Youth Offending Teams etc)

Student induction and behaviour

a. Ensure that the behaviour policy is adhered to at all times.

b. Conduct student and parent initial meetings and inductions, and ensure all staff are aware of any student risk assessments.

c. To lead on student behaviour management and support, outside of the classroom, ensuring consistency, effective monitoring and discipline where appropriate

d. Check that pastoral targets and actions are SMART and that follow-up meetings are set and logged on system.

e. Conduct re-focus or reintegration meetings with students and parents where necessary.

Record keeping and school liaison

ensure that all interventions with children (including their learning goals, achievements, mentoring sessions, incidents, progression routes etc) are recorded on our central MI system and communicated to a specific named schools and professionals

b. Working with the principal and attendance team, for day-to-day student management, to be the main point of contact for referring schools; you will liaise with school co-ordinators, students, parents, external professionals, college staff and occasionally local businesses and members of the wider community

Ensure schools are given:
regular progress reviews about their students; and where necessary, information on any disciplinary actions taken.
