We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Catering Assistant to join us at the Queen's Hospital, Burton on Trent.

If you have a passion for food and customer service and want to gain a qualification whilst working hands on in a role, this apprenticeship programme could be for you Level 2 Hospitality Team Member


We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic person to work within our busy Retail outlets alongside our friendly, established team.

Within this role you will be working in a coffee shop making costa beverages, serving customers in a busy restaurant and dealing with card/cash transactions.


Some catering experience is desirable but not essential as further skills will be attained via theLevel 2 Hospitality Team Memberapprenticeship programme.

The shift pattern will vary between the service hours to provide seven days service. Flexibility is required to support with cover such as annual leave and absence.

The main duties of a Catering Assistant is:

  • To provide a catering service to patients, visitors and staff whilst observing health, safety and hygiene procedures.
  • To deliver good customer care ensuring helpfulness, awareness and compassion to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues.
  • To adhere to food hygiene regulations & standards
  • To advise the general public and staff on food allergen advice
  • Reconciliation and banking of card and cash takings when required.
  • Completion of catering department procedural paperwork such as temperature checks and monitoring.
