Overview:


The Senior Carer role is to formulate residents' care plans, supervise the caring team whilst working as an integral part of the team.

You will deliver the highest standards of personalised care and ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity at all times residents.


Reporting to:

Deputy manager/Home Manager


What the job involves:


1 Providing the highest level of personal care and attention to residents, following individual care plans and ensuring that all contact is polite, friendly, warm and supportive.

Acting as a key worker for a named group of residents.

2 Complying with statutory and legal requirements and maintaining a safe environment throughout the home.


3 Formulating and maintaining individual care plans for each resident and administering medication to residents as prescribed, accurately maintaining appropriate records for both.

4 Liaising with other care professionals relating to the needs of the residents.


5 Being alert to residents physical and mental well being, immediately reporting any changes in a resident's condition and updating residents' records as required.

6 Respecting confidentiality of residents' personal information at all times.

7 Understanding residents' needs. Encouraging, assisting and supporting residents to participate in leisure activities as appropriate. This also includes escorting residents to outside appointments and leisure outings.


8 Making and changing beds, tidying residents' rooms, undertaking light cleaning duties and assisting in keeping the home clean, pleasant and welcoming at all times.

9 Helping to serve meals and drinks. Taking care to present meals and refreshments in an appealing way, with polite and courteous service. Being understanding with residents who need assistance with feeding and providing the appropriate level of support.


10 To be an active member of the care team, participating in the induction and training of newly appointed care assistants and ensuring that the care home is a friendly and supportive working environment.

11 To participate in all training provided by the home.


12 To report any incidents of suspected abuse to the home manager in line with the Safe Guarding Adult Policy.

13 Deal with relatives and visitors in a polite and friendly manner.

14 To be in charge of the building in the absence of the manager/Duputy manager


What we are looking for:

Experience of working in a caring environment

NVQ 3 in care

Good numeric and literacy skills

Warm and friendly disposition

Good communication skills

A strong team worker

Supervisory/leadership skills

Supportive and patient

Reliable and punctual

Willingness to develop new skills


Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
£12.40 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Rochdale: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- providing care: 1 year (preferred)

- supervisory: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
  • NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
