Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.


The post-doctoral researcher will explore the relationships between materials fabrication, structure and properties in porous nitrides, with a focus on tailoring the growth of epitaxial materials and their electrochemical porosification to achieve novel or enhanced properties.

A wide range of materials properties are of interest, including not only optoelectronic aspects but also mechanical characteristics.


The successful applicant will hold a PhD, or be near completion of a PhD, in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related area.

They will be able to demonstrate skills in data presentation, both verbally and in writing.

They will be committed to collaborative and interdisciplinary research and be able to demonstrate the ability work both independently and as part of a team.


The salary range if appointed as a Research Associate is Grade 7 £33,348-£43,155 per annum, and the salary range if appointed as Research Assistant is Grade 5 £28,929-£33,348 per annum with promotion to Research Associate on attainment of PhD.
