CNC Machinist required to work at our impressive Cirencester Head office on Love Lane in Gloucestershire.

Please note this role is for weeknights with 33% shift allowance on top of your basic salary:
Monday - Thursday 22:00 to 05:45

Friday 16:00 to 20:50

As a CNC Machinist, you will set and operate the CNC Machines, to maximise productivity and ensure quality.

The Manufacturing Machinist work with metals (Cobalt chrome and titanium predominately for the hip and knee implants and stainless steel for the Instrument kits) and plastics.


The key responsibilities of a CNC Machinist will be to:

  • Work and adhere to Corin's Health & Safety procedures and processes, as well as conform with legislative requirements including COSHH and manual handling
  • Ensure all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
  • Challenge individuals who are not demonstrating good health and safety practices.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and good housekeeping is always maintained.
  • Escalate any risks immediately, by reporting to Manufacturing Management and ensure any potential risks or hazards are always reported via the 'near miss' option on Mestec.
  • Dispose of all waste correctly and appropriately including liquid waste, deburring blades, excess or scrap metal and plastics, as well as machinery or tooling.
  • Help to train, coach, and support the Manufacturing Associates enabling them to meet their job expectations.
  • Aim for a "Right first time" approach, before handing over to a Manufacturing Associate if required.
  • Calibrate and maintain measuring equipment and ensure maintenance check sheets are completed and accurate.
  • Place any nonconforming parts and batches into "First Response" on Mestec and physically place on the "First Response" rack, with an accurate disposition, so as they can be actioned with the correct information.
  • Demonstrate high levels of knowledge within the weekly Quality Circles.
  • Perform first line quality checks on all orthopaedic parts (hip, knee, ankle, and shoulder) as they are run off the CNC machines and Robotic lines.
  • Support Quality in highlighting and reporting quality issues, understand the NCR root cause & support in the resolutions.
  • Ensure that process & timeline requirements for Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) are met in accordance with Corin's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and in support of Corin's Global Objectives for CAPA.
  • Have awareness and understanding of Quality KPI's reported at SSU meetings
  • Adhere to all work instructions, general visual aids, and standard operating procedures in line with the relevant processes.
  • Enforce Good Documentation Practice by populating and completing all necessary paperwork and maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Take responsibility of your training records to ensure they always comply with all quality standards.
  • Highly competent to fully set and operate a minimum of five different CNC processes, which includes being verified and signed off appropriately.
  • Willingness to support in other areas including machining and final process.
  • Actively contribute & deliver improvement ideas, a minimum of four per year approved KAS submissions which show and demonstrate continuous improvement ideas within Kaizen.
  • Ensure correct revision of CNC programme is used and verified.
  • Verify CNC programs if required with the engineering team.
  • Willing to support the Manufacturing Shift Managers within 'First response' and Triage activities.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to understand lean principles and avoid 'batch building'.
  • Raise and immediately communicate any issues or possible delays to achieve plan adherence levels at the SSU meetings, or beforehand where possible.
  • Report all equipment failures.
  • Ensure workstation Work in Progress (WIP) racks are preloaded with priority batches for the following shift.
  • Adhere to the production plans in sequential order.
  • Scan all batches ensuring all details are correct and accurate on and off within Mestec.
  • Place batches on the correct racks, to ensure delivery times are not hampered and 'On Time Delivery' (OTD) can be measured accurately.
  • Provide twoweek notice for any planned leave.
  • Be punctual and have a great attendance record
