Grade 4- £30,151- 37,261**These are exciting times to be working in Birmingham. The start of a 'golden decade', which kicked off with the Commonwealth Games, sees the city stepping up its ambitions for sustainable and inclusive growth. This growth needs to balance the pressure for development with protecting the city's natural and built assets, meeting our carbon zero targets, and maximising opportunities for all of our residents and businesses. To facilitate this ambition, we are seeking applicants who will bring talent and drive to the Senior Development Planning Officer post.

Working within the Development Planning Team, you will play a key role in delivering a full range of local planning and development work, including:

  • Supporting the implementation of plans and projects including accessing funding, assembling sites, and working with partners and stakeholders
  • Providing planning and development advice to a wide range of stakeholders

The Development Planning Team is involved in some of the most exciting projects across the city - the regeneration of Perry Barr; the development of 'Our Future City Plan', SPD's and non-statutory plans for neighbourhoods across the city, and city-wide strategies such as 'Our City of Nature'; major city centre opportunities such as Smithfield and Digbeth; projects delivering investment in town centres and public spaces; and schemes across the city to develop new homes and infrastructure.

As the context in which we work as Planners changes, we are determined to rise to the challenge and find new ways to ensure that our residents enjoy the best opportunities in life.

Working at Birmingham gives you the opportunity to play a part in delivering on behalf of everyone who calls the city their home.
