We have an exciting opportunity to join our successful Rental department based at Fradley Park; this position is within our Team of Maintenance Controllers controlling the safety inspections, defects and breakdowns for our fleet of over 1200 vehicles and trailers throughout the UK.


You will be responsible for controlling all maintenance costs including on-site defects, roadside breakdowns and ensuring all vehicles remain compliant in-line with customers operators' licenses maintenance schedules, through our own workshops and our approved nationwide vendor partners.

This is working in a faced paced environment and being able to react and make informed decisions is an important part.

To effectively communicate all trucks out of service to ensure customers are kept up to date with progress.


In the role you will be responsible for monitoring progress, obtaining customer authorisations and arranging workloads along with challenging and authorising expenditure for all work carried out, to ensure that when authorising repairs, the history of the vehicle is checked thoroughly for any part/labour or manufacturer's warranty.

This will require a can-do approach to all activities undertaken.

Identify issues with suppliers and resolve them whilst building and maintaining relationships at multiple levels within their organisation.


To succeed in this role, applicants must be an excellent communicator, competent computer user, and able to work in a team.

In addition, previous HGV mechanical experience in a similar role such as breakdown/defect control, workshop control or vehicle cost management would be advantageous.


A typical day would include tasks should as:

  • Liaising with both customers and maintenance providers to coordinate and manage repairs and maintenance.
  • Raising startup order numbers
  • Problemsolving
  • Ability to communicate positively and assertively
