The role:
What you will be doing as a Young Person's Support Worker:
- To ensure that the children are safe and protect them from risks to their health and welfare
- All aspects of care including personal care
- To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
- Keeping on top of household chores such as cleaning & doing laundry
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and wellbeing.
- Maintaining uptodate knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
- Supporting poor behaviour safely and sympathetically.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
- You MUST be willing to carry out personal care duties
- Ideally be a driver as you will be required to transport the young people from time to time
- You MUST be an empathetic and relatable person, have good listening and communication skills, and a natural instinct to help others
- You MUST be able to commute to Dewsbury
