This post is part of the Estates Team at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust who provide maintenance services, both planned and reactive, for the properties belonging to the Hospital.

The post holder is expected to provide a comprehensive painting and decorating service for all areas of the Hospital.

They will carry out necessary painting maintenance tasks to ensure the up-keep and to improve the overall look of the Trust.


The role involves the undertaking of rotational area painting duties, along with reactive calls for add-hock reported defects, reporting to the Supervisor Painter & Decorator and Estates Supervisors.

Carry out routine painting and decorating on a rotational area program along with add-hock reactive maintenance calls.


Assist maintenance craftsmen across the full range of their duties and demonstrate their ability to work in a multi-task environment.

To complete a varied task of reactive requests coming from the Hospitals Departments.

Cleaning of plantrooms, workshops, stores and plant rooms along with the painting of.

Undertake minor maintenance works as requested.

Carry out planned preventative (PPM) work including checking, testing and information gathering if required.


Carry out individual technical administration by the completion of works tickets and the filling in of log books in wards and departments, as required.


To be prepared to work in confined spaces, work at heights, and have the ability to use engineering and building tools or undertake training as necessary.

To follow the Estates procedures with respect to safety, security and fire policies.

To assist with emergency work as and when required, sometimes out of normal hours.

Complete timesheets, maintenance schedules and report sheets as required.

Multi skilled/additional building skills in the role is an advantage.
