BRIEF


As part of the production team you will be required to perform a number of key activities to maintain smooth and efficient production and general operations.

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor(s), this position provides essential support in the manufacture of component parts and fittings.


It is paramount that you have an understanding and awareness of the requirement to produce accurate and quality finished parts and fittings in a productive manner at all times.


PERSON SPECIFICATION


You should have a strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with a proven welding background in Brazing and MIG welding, knowledge of TIG is also an advantage.


This is a low volume, high SKU environment utilising a variety of skills in the production of hand made lighting here in the UK.

Quality is the aim not mass produced quantity.


A positive can do attitude coupled with good interpersonal and communication skills and an excellent attendance record is required to be successful in this role.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven, preferably documented experience as a welder within a small multiprocess production environment.
  • Forging experience desirable
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • A team player
  • Able to organise and prioritise own workload
  • Physical strength and stamina (role is primarily standing with exception of breaks and lunch period)
  • Ability to lift medium to heavy objects

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the welding and paint shop departments in all aspects of the painting and welding process (training will be provided)
  • Assist in the machine shop as required in operating numerically controlled machines, lathes, drills, or other machines and tools to manufacture component parts and fittings
  • Undertake on the job training and coaching from Production Supervisor(s) in all areas of the machine shop, paint shop and welding department to achieve and maintain sustainable high quality, low volume production
  • Assist in accurate record keeping using the computerised system to record completed jobs
  • Ensure proper care is taken in the use and maintenance of all equipment, machinery and supplies
  • Understand and abide by the production departments workplace safety and environmental practices in addition to the overall Company health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to follow work instructions to complete products according to specifications and inspect completed work for quality control
  • Maintain procedures and document management systems to maintain ISO accreditation and its continuing audit along with any other QMS as instructed by the Company.
  • Report defective materials, machines or questionable conditions to the Production Supervisor(s) immediately
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor(s) and/or Senior Management
  • In peak periods assistance in other areas of the business may be required such as in the warehouse to pick and pack customer orders (training will be provided)
