x2 Youth Justice Practitioner posts have arisen in the North Kent Youth Justice Team based at New Beginnings, Gravesend. These posts will be offered on a 12-month contract.


The position is an area-based role covering the districts of Dartford, Gravesham and Swale working with young people aged years who have come into contact with the criminal justice system.


As a member of a multi-agency service, you will work in partnership to undertake assessments, complete reports for Court/panels and work directly with young people/their families with a range of needs completing interventions as part of their statutory programme.

The purpose of this work is to reduce the risk of reoffending, in accordance with the agreed intervention plans and in the context of managing their risk of harm to others and vulnerability issues.


The role also includes regular attendance at Youth Justice team meetings and multi-agency meetings for the purposes of prevention and risk management.

You will also be expected to take part in the service duty rota and attending Youth, Magistrates and Crown Courts.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
