We are offering four exciting student employment opportunities to work within the Applications Directorate as Service Management Assistant (Student Experience Post) on an 18 month fixed-term basis


The opportunity


We are offering four exciting student employment opportunities to work within the Applications Directorate as Service Management Assistant (Student Experience Post) on an 18 month fixed-term basis.

The posts will be aligned to assist an experienced service manager within the Service Management Section with the support and continual improvement of one of the three following services:

Online and Digital Events including online, hybrid meetings and events platforms

  • SharePoint Solutions, assisting the team primarily through updating information sources and testing bespoke solutions


These student roles would suit individuals with excellent IT, interpersonal, communication and written skills who can effectively liaise and support users through training and with general requests.

Work across these areas typically includes;

  • Preparing and conducting user engagement campaigns, workshops and events
  • Developing and maintaining service documentation, drafting reports, presentations and promotional materials
  • Maintaining service web pages
  • Assisting with user support activities
  • Assisting with remote support during online, hybrid meetings, webinars and events (Online and Digital Events)
  • Supporting development of bespoke Sharepoint solutions (Sharepoint)
These roles offer a salary of £21,978 - £22,681 per annum (pro rata) and have a hybrid-working pattern. The post holder is expected to work in the office, in Edinburgh, at least one day per week.

We are looking for currently matriculated University of Edinburgh students (residing in the UK) to work part-time alongside their studies (up to 15 hours week term time, with additional hours available during the summer).

What the job involves:


  • Maintaining online user facing and service documentation informed through user consultations, workshops and analytics

A bit about you:


  • You will be a current University of Edinburgh student (this post is designated for the purposes of student employment; therefore, you must be a matriculated student for the duration of your employment (18 months)
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Evidence your good written English and the ability to write appropriately for different audiences
  • Proven ability to work in a small team environment
  • Capable of working with limited supervision and exercising a high degree of initiative
  • Demonstrate customer focus to develop and maintain effective working relationships

Additional Information:

We are currently operating a Hybrid Working model, which is a mix of on-campus and off-campus working.
