College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine / Institute of Genetics and Cancer / Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine

Full time, 35 hours per week.

Fixed Term - 2 years beginning in August or September 2023


We are looking for a Research Assistant to work within the laboratory of Professor Tim Aitman in the Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.


The Opportunity:


The successful applicant would work within the Genome Medicine Group, which is using state-of-the-art genome technology to develop new methods for analysis of cell-free DNA for diagnosis and stratification of cancer.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • You are a highly motivated individual
  • You have good wet lab experience in molecular genetics or molecular biology.
  • You have expertise in next generation sequencing and an interest in the analysis of genome data.
  • E xcellent communication skills, with experience of oral presentations and writing scientific documents.
  • A good BSc in Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
