Database Administration Specialist - Oracle, London or any of our UK locations - remote/flexible working available**

  • Working in a large busy diverse global team of 100 colleagues, you will be responsible for installing, creating, supporting and maintaining Oracle databases, ensuring their performance, availability and security in order to provide a stable database environment
  • A constant learning curve whilst given an opportunity to develop your skills long term with scope of promotion within the team in UK, stepping up globally and the opportunity to step into management roles in the team

We will count on you to:

  • Work in a busy large global team supporting Oracle
  • UK restricted areas and wider UK systems
  • Attend project meetings, implement planned changes
  • Monitor ticket queues and capacity planning
  • Proactively monitor UK systems to identify areas of concern before they become problems
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements

What you need to have:


  • Experience with installation, configuration, administration and monitoring of Oracle 12c/ 19c databases
  • Competency in Oracle RAC technology for HA/ DR methodologies and planning
  • Expert in performance tuning and optimization techniques
  • Expertise with Oracle patching, security patches and Hotfixes
  • Proficiency in database backup and recovery methodologies
  • Experience with Shell scripting with a focus on automation of repetitive tasks
  • Diagnosing the database issues and taking corrective actions to ensure database availability
  • Database capacity planning, upgrades and database migration
  • Proficiency in database security, audit requirements, business continuity strategy and exercise
  • Strong knowledge in project and resource planning; estimate project costs and timelines

  • Understanding and experience of Change Control and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
  • A strong customer focus and people skills
  • Experience in providing after hours emergency support

  • Experience in the handling of Financial and Personal Identifiable data, with appropriate controls
