Based on the outskirts of Cambridge, Pretoria Energy is an ambitious, growing, renewable energy supplier at the cutting edge of investment, research and the production of carbon-neutral energy.


Weare seeking a motivated and competent Plant Operative to become an integral member of a new and developing pre-treatment facility which is nearing the end of the construction phase.

The role is integral to continued business growth and development of specialist pre-treatment technologies. A typical shift will be varied and engaging, at the forefront of feedstock production.

The role will have a direct impact on the biogas potential of our anaerobic digestion facilities and therefore our vision of providing carbon-neutral green energy.

This particular role is based in Mepal, North Cambridgeshire.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, as a Plant Operative, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating a counterbalance forklift with due care and attention
  • Completing daily checks and light maintenance
  • Ensuring that the production and storage areas of the facility are clean & tidy
  • Work alongside the plant operator with any required tasks
  • Daily stock controlling to maintain appropriate supplies
  • Adhering to strict health & safety standards
  • Any other duties necessary to ensure optimal facility production

Skills and qualifications:


  • Previous experience operating industrial machinery
  • Good working knowledge of light maintenance duties
  • Counterbalance License is desirable, however full training can be provided
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail for accurate record keeping
  • Motivated attitude with a willingness to learn

  • Living or willing to relocate within a 60minute commute of PE16 6XA
  • Entitlement to work in the UK
  • 4 days on/4 days off, 4 nights on/4 nights off shift pattern
  • 12hour shift patterns (06:00 18:00, 18:006:00)
  • 20 days annual leave and public holidays

As part of the interview process, you will attend a face-to-face interview plus a site tour with the Production Manager.
