REPORTS TO:
Department Team Leader

Major Responsibilities:

Attending machines, assembly and pack work, sorting components and checking quality of product against standards by visual inspection or gauging where applicable.

Other work could include trimming parts, marking parts and packing into tubs or boxes ready for dispatch to third party affiliates.

Key Responsibilities:

Attending machines, assembly and pack work, sorting components and checking quality of product against standards by visual inspection or gauging where applicable.
Other work could include trimming parts, marking parts and packing into tubs or boxes ready for dispatch to third party affiliates.
Expected to work on own initiative and use their own judgment in absence of Team leader/Setter operator.
Responsible for maintaining department KPI's (5s, scrap reduction, inventory, safety and productivity) to factory set targets for all department with increased responsibility for designated equipment.
Ensuring all work produced is to the required standard by hourly visual inspection and where applicable gauging, the recording of scrap generated.
Where required trimming/marking product to required standard, loading product into tubs for internal use and packing components into cartons for despatch to third party affiliates.
Will be required at times to assist Team leader/Setter Operator in other duties.
Take care when operating in the department, the effect of carless operation could lead to errors made when making adjustments to plant and could cause machine and or tooling damage, resulting in the generation of high scrap rates.
Flexible attitude to shift working for cover during colleague holidays and longterm periods of absence to ensure integrity of production.

Working Conditions
Normal shop floor conditions but can encounter heat, fumes, dust, oil and water when tool changing. Occasionally will use a step ladder when required.

Physical Effort

Standing or walking 90% of time.
Moving material along with cartons of material and pallets of completed work.
Occasionally using step ladders.
Fork lift trucks, pallet trucks and handling equipment are available for lifting and moving if required.

Skill:

Quality: Use of measuring equipment, dimensional gauges, plug and dial gauges, visual recognition of defects.

Experience Required

Fork truck licence preferred but not essential, working in an environment of continuous improvement and lean activities, previous work in a plastics moulding department preferred but not essential.

Length of training required...
4-6 weeks basic.

Supervision of others
Nil but will be required to assist in the training of others.

Safety of others

Keeps department clean and tidy at all times Machines, Equipment all surrounding areas.
Care needed when operating Fork truck and Overhead Cranes.
If required would evacuate and notify any other department effected to do the same because of fire, fumes or any other risk.

Purpose of Job

To produce a range of injection moulded parts to the required standard, ready for use by other departments or thirdparty affiliates.
To carry out general duties when requested to do so.
Carry out all duties necessary to achieve department goals, production targets and forecasts.
