We have an exciting role within the R&I office for a Research and Innovation Contracts Administrator (Band 4).


This post is an integral part of the R&I Division's core function which exists to provide an efficient support service to deliver research sponsored by the Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support oncology research undertaken by The Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the core R&I Office with the management of research projects, particularly the processing of contracts that are submitted to the office for review and sign-off.

The management of which requires initial checks, accurate documentation and tracking, as well as a good working knowledge of GCP and research governance requirements.


This post is an integral part of the R&I Division's core function which exists to provide an efficient support service for the research delivery teams and both internal and external researchers enabling the Trust to deliver its research ambitions.

Please note that this post is temporary offered at 37.5 h/week (full-time) for 12 month

The post holder is also expected to provide general administrative support to facilitate the overall management of contracts for research projects within the Trust, including research sponsored by the Trust, to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and research governance requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive and perform initial checks of all researchrelated contracts including but not limited to clinical trial agreements, confidential disclosure agreements and service level agreements
  • Work in collaboration with the research delivery teams and the Contracts Managers to prioritise contracts where appropriate
  • Follow up contract progress with other parties to speed up the overall review process and study setu
  • Support the other party to the contract through the Christie research contract process
  • Assist with the processing of contract amendments
  • Coordinate and track the review and signoff of Honorary Research Contracts and Letters of Access for researchers
  • Ensure internal and external timelines for processing contracts are adhered to
  • Support the R&I Business Manager and R&I Contract Managers in processing contracts for new research projects as required
  • Assist with the production of reports to summarise contract activity and aid performance management across the service
  • Use own judgement where applicable when using facts from situations which may require further analysis
  • Ensure that the Trust has documentary evidence that contracts comply with relevant regulatory and research governance requirements.
  • Management of the external R&I contracts mailbox, ensuring distribution of communication where relevant and management of other internal shared mailboxes as appropriate
  • Where appropriate, attend R&I meetings / meetings of R&I facility management committees as required
  • Provision of minutetaking for internal and external meetings as appropriate
  • Primary point of contact for the R&I contracts to provide and receive complex information regarding R&I activity across the Trust and externally
  • Work in collaboration with the R&I Office to develop and maintain appropriate work instructions and training materials
  • Contribution to service improvement initiatives relating to areas of work including the identification of deficiencies within the service and implementation of new ways of working in collaboration with the R&I team and across the division as required
  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of Trustwide research strategies, policies and procedures
  • Plan workload effectively ensuring agreed objectives are met
  • Work within trust and divisional policies and procedures, working unsupervised and independently
  • Responsible for own professional/personal development, working with their line manager to develop and fulfil a personal development plan.
