Description
Phoenix Private Ambulance Service provides non-emergency patient transport, mainly in the Coventry and Warwickshire areas, but also further afield.

As a result of additional contract work, we now need to recruit additional members for our non-emergency ambulance crew team.

The main purpose of this role is to safely transport non-emergency patients with varying mobilities between hospitals, care homes, clinics, other related premises and private addresses.

As well as driving the non-emergency ambulances, the job of patient transport crew includes looking after the patients entrusted to our care.

There is a physical aspect to this job as some patients may need to be carried up/downstairs in a carry chair or moved via wheelchair or stretcher, and be escorted between the vehicle and their pick-up and destination points in hospitals, care homes, etc.

The safe and dignified transportation of these patients is central to the role, and includes securing patients, wheelchairs, stretchers etc in the vehicles, and ensuring at all times that patients are comfortable and know what is happening.

Previous exeprience in this work is highly desirable, but all relevant training will be provided if necessary.

Key skills include a calm manner, empathy, a demonstrably safe, progressive driving ability (which will be tested), a good team ethic, excellent timekeeping and a good command of the English language.

An enhanced DBS check must be passed as part of the joining process.

Driving will be in non-emergency long-wheelbase ambulances (Renault Master or equivalent) or smaller vehicles, all of which can be driven on a normal full licence: a licence with no more than 3 penalty points is essential.

You will work most of the time as part of a 2-person crew, but some of the time on your own.

COVID-19 considerations:
As a healthcare business, there are strict infection control procedures and PPE in place for all staff and patients. Regular lateral flow tests may be required, depending upon the prevalence of COVID and upon government advice.
