About the role
As the Data Lead

  • Sustainability Programme, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of data management and governance solutions and tools for sustainability data within Cambridge University Press & Assessment.


You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, digital teams, operations analysts, and sustainability experts, to ensure the quality, accuracy, and availability of environmental data for decision-making and analysis.


Some key accountabilities include:


  • Work with solution architects to design scalable tools for measuring carbon emissions for the enterprise as well as an emerging area of measuring carbon emissions for digital solutions.
  • Work with data platform delivery teams to automate the delivery of carbon emissions data into the Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Lead the development and implementation of data visualization, automation and reporting tools for sustainability data
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for data integration and sharing with external partners and organisations
  • Support the product owner for our digital sustainability data tool (Currently DIMPACT) and other sustainability tools (Currently UL360)
  • Interpret and analyse sustainability data to provide insight and, make recommendations for improvements to systems and processes to achieve our targets

About you


As the Data Lead, you will have knowledge of conceptual and logical data models, a basic understanding of digital products such as websites, including a high level understanding about digital infrastructures.

You will also have an understanding of energy transfer standards and conversions.


Skills & experience for this role include:

  • Experience (ideally a Bachelor's degree but not required) and a strong interest in environmental science
  • Experience in data analysis and/or engineering, data science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • A good understanding of data management and governance, preferably with environmental data
  • A good understanding of industry standards and regulations related to environmental data
  • Experience in delivering technology solutions is desirable.
