A leading organisation are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their exceptional team of In-House Lawyers. Ideally to be located close to Peterborough, but with remote working options.An interim position, with
an immediate start, with the possibility of a permanent role thereafter.
The successful Senior Legal Counsel will provide commercially pragmatic legal advice and assistance to the group of companies, while minimising risk.
Duties will include:
- You will work autonomously with mínimal supervision whilst ensuring risks/issues are escalated to Head of Legal and senior management team.
- Supervising, coaching and mentoring of junior staff
- Advising on strategically important matters
- Reviewing, updating, drafting and advising on contracts, claims handling agreements, software agreements etc.
- Providing advice on FSMA and FCA regulatory requirements
- Dealing with contentious matters and and when required, including drafting letters before action, settlement agreements and attending court or tribunal hearings
- Assist with ensuring Group compliance with FCA, ICO and other regulatory requirements
- Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, with at least 5 years PQE
(permitted to practice in England and Wales): - Ideally insurance industry experience (not essential) with experience of dealing with insurance contracts for general insurance brokers and/or UK insurers
- Several years of relevant legal practice gained in a leading law firm and/or fast paced, commercial inhouse environment
- Strong IT skills
- A keen team player
- Solid technical skills
- A high level of written and verbal communication skills
This role will fall inside IR35.
Remote working is a possibility, however it will be expected that you may be expected to travel to meetings (generally in Peterborough) on occasion.
