CNWL currently has vacancies for suitably prepared individuals to work as Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapists in Primary Care Talking Therapy services.


The vacancies are in each of the CNWL IAPT services: Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea. Successful applicants will complete a 12 months Post Graduate Diploma in CBT that will prepare them to become accredited CBT Therapists with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. Suitable applicants will be Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who have a minimum of 2 years full time post qualification experience, clinical and counselling Psychologists, accredited counsellors and psychotherapists, social workers, occupational therapists and psychiatric nurses.

London Weighting will be confirmed accordingly to your allocated base following successful interviews.

This is a training role within the Improving Access To Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT).

The post-holder will work within the IAPT service providing high intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role.

This intensive training post will equip the post - holder to provide a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

The post
- holder will work in the service for 3 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme for the other two days.

  • Attending a university accredited post graduate Diploma 2 days per week (Thursdays and Fridays)
  • Working within a primary care talking therapies service three days per week full time
  • Seeing adults clients presenting with anxiety and depression under supervision
  • Providing evidence based CBT interventions to adult clients individually and in group settings
  • Conducting detailed psychological assessments of adult clients presenting with anxiety and derpession
- creating appropriate therapeutic intervention plans collaboratively with clients
- implementing evidence based CBT interventions
- monitoring therapeutic progress on a session by session basis
- participation in weekly individual and group supervsiion
