We are pleased to advertise a vacancy for an Assistant Psychologist to work within our friendly and supportive team on Victoria Ward, Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford, Surrey.

Victoria Ward is an acute assessment and treatment inpatient ward specialising in the care of older adults with mainly functional mental health issues.


We are looking for a conscientious, knowledgeable and dedicated individual who is passionate about the care of older people and improving quality of life and wellbeing.

Under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will assist with the development and delivery of psychological interventions on the ward.

The post will allow the successful applicant to gain a broad range of experience and skills in delivering mental health care to older people experiencing complex mental health problems and/or cognitive impairment.

You will be well supported within the inpatient and psychology team, where CPD and staff support are highly valued.


This role provides an excellent opportunity for applicants wishing to develop an in-depth understanding of mental health care for older people and further their skills in psychological assessment and intervention.

Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and value working collaboratively with the full multidisciplinary team as well as carers and external agencies.


To support and enhance the professional psychological care of people who use services by providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist working within the service, and by working independently according to a plan agreed with the team leader and the supervising psychologist.

To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of outcome statistics, and/or other project work as appropriate and agreed with the team leader and supervising psychologist.
