BSNI is working with a food organisation that has seen exceptional growth over the past year and is expanding in all areas, due to this they have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.

Hours of work: 8.30am Mon - Thur / pm Friday

Job Summary


Purchase good, materials and services to ensure that the Company's Operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.

Prepare presentations as needed for internal meetings and be able to prepare forecast for suppliers.


Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy and Development:

  • Contribute to the creation, development and implementation of best practice procurement policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational and business performance.
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Procurement activities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
  • Undertake research on and evaluate new suppliers.
  • Assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers.

Procurement:


  • Purchase goods, materials or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
  • Ensure professional and consistent supplier management is applied across the supply base and effective processes are implemented to measure supplier performance, quality and compliance.
  • Ensure all requirements are sourced in full and aligned to business and customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organisational targets and requirements.
  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies and initiatives and advise of impact of change on purchasing, production and distribution activities.
  • Support product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans.
  • Attend meetings, deliver briefs and update others on issues or concerns, in particular when there is a risk which could prevent the Company meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns.

General:


  • Provide management reports and key performance data and monitor cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.
  • Provide general support to management by being flexible to work additional hours and assist with overflow work from colleagues as needed to ensure that the business runs smoothly.
  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere.
  • Participate in all essential and required training to carry out your role efficiently and safely.
  • Participate in and attend departmental or Company meetings as required.
  • Support and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor own development towards business and individual objectives.
  • Communicate and negotiate with transport partners.

Experience:


  • A minimum of 1 year procurement experience, preferably within a grocery environment.

Desirable:


  • Relevant business/commercial degree.
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
