Description
Our client, a leading insurance group at Lloyd's, helps protect industries around the world from the risks they face. Their customers include major airlines, energy companies, shipping groups, global manufacturers and property groups.


Strategy and Corporate Development is a small team that works at the heart of the business to shape the clients growth and transformation strategy and support its implementation.

We are currently looking to expand the team in order to build on our successand are looking for an additional Financial / Business Analyst.


This person will report to the Senior Financial Analyst and will work closely with the whole team, comprising the Head of Innovation and Digital Strategy Manager, alongside the Chief Strategy Officer.

We are also currently recruiting for other roles as welook to build on our success.


Good intelligence and smart analysis are a core part of the team's role and integral to the success of our other functions.

The role will be central to building and deriving more value from our intelligence capabilities.


For example:

  • Research to help identify underwriting and investment opportunities or potential underwriting partnerships
  • Financial analysis and due diligence of opportunities relating to potential acquisitions, business development or underwriting partnerships
  • Working with underwriting teams to build out strategies that are consistent with corporate themes and ambitions and appropriate for their customers and marketplace
  • Defining and conducting market, competitor and customer research and analysis to improve market knowledge across the business and inform Group strategy and decisionmaking
  • Maintain understanding and awareness of industry trends and developments
You will work closely with senior management, underwriting teams and many parts of the business.

In addition to the specific requirements of the role, there is scope to contribute more broadly to the business, through the wider remit of the Chief Strategy Officer, which encompasses:

  • Strategy
  • shape and communicate a clear story and cohesive long-term plan for the Group and working internally and externally to support implementation
  • Corporate Development identify and pursue potential business development opportunities
  • Intelligence carry out, share and act on appropriate market, customer and competitor research and analysis, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Innovation build and leverage our reputation for innovation and creativity for growing commercial benefit
  • Engaging with underwriting and technology teams to determine an appropriate digital underwriting strategy
  • Oversight of our Marketing team, maintaining close alignment between strategic themes and brand identity
  • Oversight of our Distribution function and strategy, engaging with Underwriting teams and Brokers
**Main duties:
**Work alongside the Head of Partnerships in support of deploying capacity through direct relationships with carriers or underwriting agencies: - Identify appropriate UW segments and potential partners

  • Proactively research and engage directly with target partners to shape opportunities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence
  • Support dealmaking and onboarding process

Corporate Intelligence:

  • Develop strong understanding of business dynamics and performance drivers, in order to enhance the effectiveness of analysis and delivery
  • Carry out research on competitors and the wider market
Responsibility for segmental/industry data held in systems in order that we can build/analyse industry profiles by class


At all times, the emphasis will be on identifying and looking to maximise the value-add from these activities, through building a strong understanding of the compay's strategic priorities and commercial goals and engaging with colleagues across the business.

It will therefore be important to maintain regular interaction across the business, including Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance and Risk teams.


Your profile

Experience:


  • Experience of research and analysis experience
  • Able to demonstrate strategic and commercial awareness
  • Enthusiasm for the global P&C insurance market and issues facing the industry
  • Technically proficient and able to interpret insurance industry financials and KPIs
  • Experience of historical and projected financial modelling using insurance data
  • Building out proposals, business plans and presentations that tell a story and are logical to the audience
  • Knowledge / experience of Specialty Insurance a bonus

Technical skills:


  • Experience of writing business plans, proposals, and financial models
  • Strong numerical skills and ability to perform robust analysis
  • Ability to analyse financial statements / reports / forecasts
  • Ability to distil information and write succinct reports
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel and Powerpoint

Qualifications

  • Robust academic ability essential but University not a prerequisite
  • Professional Finance qualification desirable (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CFA), but not essential
