Purpose of role

To provide a comprehensive and proactive insurance / self-funding service for the Council.

To maintain, develop and promote the Council's risk management framework and ensure that this system operates effectively and efficiently.


To undertake a wide range of corporate initiatives for Corporate Compliance & Governance including Performance Management, Service Planning, Web Champion and Freedom of Information.

To deputise for the Corporate Compliance and Governance Manager in relation to Risk Management and Insurance when required.

Grade C or above (4-9) in four

Relevant Insurance or Risk Management qualification or relevant experience such as IRM

Experience of working in the public sector.

Relevant experience of tendering and running insurance contracts for a diverse organisation

Experience of dealing with a wide variety of claims, investigating the claims and making a decision on liability

Experience of establishing and developing new systems, policies and working practices

Experience of Court proceedings

Experience of service planning and performance monitoring

High level of IT literacy, including ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook and other packages as required


Job Types:
