The Flying High Partnership are looking to appoint an Finance Business Partner to join our Central Team.

You will form part of an established central finance team to deliver an effective and high-quality service to our schools.

Our central team consists of multiple disciplines, including Education, HR, Operations and Finance.

The Flying High Partnership consists of two distinct parts: Flying High Trust and Flying High Futures. Flying High Trust is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) of 31 primary schools across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Nottingham City. Flying High Futures provides professional learning internally for staff across the Trust, and externally through Department for Education national programmes.


This is a broad and hands-on role, providing excellent opportunities to learn and grow a skillset across the finance function, wider operational and educational landscape of the Trust.

The role will require someone with strong budgeting and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a resilient and flexible approach to their work.

It will involve working closely with the central finance team, the wider central team and budget holders, individual academy leaders, and other relevant external bodies.


Your core duties will include:


  • Work alongside the Headteacher and leadership team to enable strategic development in line with the vision for the school
  • Work in partnership with Headteachers, leadership teams and school office teams to inform and influence decision making to ensure that schools achieve financial balance without compromising on delivering the best possible outcomes for our children
  • Plan and manage the delivery of support to your allocated schools, including month end accounting requirements, preparing and producing monthly monitoring reports for key budget holders using the agreed budget to actively monitor, control and evaluate performance
  • Enable those responsible for financial management in your schools to operate their finances with excellence and efficiency
  • Ensure that the school financial operations are being managed in accordance with Trust financial procedures and the requirements of the ESFA

  • Can handle month end procedures across your allocated schools and deliver effective and timely budget monitoring.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
