Our client is based near Haywards Heath and is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Workshop Manager to join their team.

The successful applicant should have excellent knowledge of mechanical and plant Engineering.


Main Duties

  • Responsible for all daytoday operations in the workshop, ensuring repairs and maintenance work are carried out to the highest standards whilst meeting legislative requirements of the operations.
  • Follow ISO procedures and utilise the technology provided by the client.
  • Repair and maintain all vehicles, plant and machinery as directed either on or off site.
  • Daily management of the client's fleet, ensuring it complies with all legal requirements
  • DVSA, FORS and Operations license etc.
  • Undertake training to standards agreed by the senior management.
  • To comply with the company safety regulations, policies and safe working practices.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, management and customers at all times.
  • Manage accidents and vehicle incidents. Working directly with the insurers and recording data.
  • Overseeing and managing the workshop team on a daily basis, setting objectives.
  • Stock control for the department including PPE.
  • Manage and work within the department's budget.
  • Control the hiring and purchasing of plant and vehicles.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and report any malpractice.
  • Report all accidents, incidents and near misses.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven work experience with heavy plant and machinery.
  • Able to supervise and motivate team members.
  • Punctual and hard working with a 'can do' attitude.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with staff, managers and customers in a polite professional manner.
  • Solution focused with great problemsolving skills.
  • Proven welding experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Full, clean driving license is essential.
  • Expert knowledge of Mechanical Engineering via work experience or qualifications. (NVQ level 3 equivalent)
  • HGV license preferable but not desirable.
  • NVQ Plant Maintenance.

  • Mondays to Fridays
