Description
Hours of work will be Monday - Friday with some flexibility required due to the nature of the business.Salary upto £55000 p.a. plus 25 days holiday excl bank holidays. Generous pension contribution and other benefits to be discussed at interview.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- To manage, develop and lead the engineering team.
- To manage an efficient engineering operation on site in line with KPI and budgetary targets.
- To manage and control subcontractors.
- Understand operational needs and ensure that the engineering activity on site supports this for both breakdown repairs and planned maintenance activity.
- To ensure continuous improvement plans to drive year on year improvements.
- Line management responsibility for direct reports. Ensure regular performance reviews are in place for them.
- Full responsibility and accountability for all engineering activity on site.
- Deliver effective fault diagnosis and repairs to support a demanding operational environment.
- Take collective responsibility for the engineering team and promote a team environment to deliver results.
- Ensure all engineers maintain high standards in Health and Safety, uniform, PPE, behaviour.
- Understands the KPI's for production and focuses on the engineering team, delivering support to the site team that ensures production levels are maintained.
- Ensure all equipment operates to the required outputs through effective planning and execution of preventative maintenance activity.
- Ensure effective management and use of inventory and spares including budget control. Liaises directly with suppliers as required.
- Work closely with the Group Engineering Manager to develop future plans and continuous improvement.
- Motivate engineering team and ensure effective communication at all levels.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and direct reports.
- Develop effective training and development.
- Responsibility for all engineering activity on site including management of any installation and project work by external contractors.
- Take responsibility to ensure all the engineering team have the appropriate skills required to maintain and repair the equipment and plant on site, particularly fault diagnosis and control skills.
- Carry out full investigation for all incidents and accidents involving the engineering team.
- Review plant performance with the General Manager and Group Engineer on a regular basis to ensure maximum efficiency.
- English spoken and written.
- IT Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Line Management experience.
- Academic qualifications to support the role (mechanical/electrical/control skills), with a bias on control skills.
- Experience in a high speed/volume manufacturing or productiontype environment.
