NJC Grade 13, 35 per week (7.00am-2.30pm), 42 working weeks per year


Key Purpose of job:


To provide comprehensive support to the Business Manager in all HR functions in school and ensure that daily cover for teaching staff absence is arranged and recorded on SIMS cover.


Duties and accountabilities of post:


You will be responsible for:

  • In accordance with Safer Recruitment in Education, ensuring that all preemployment checks are completed, to include Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
  • Produce and issue employment offer letters and change of contract letters.
  • Update and maintain the Single Central Register.
  • Maintain records of staff training, staff inductions and probation meetings.
  • Maintain staff records and produce documents for new starters and produce data collection packs for staff annually.
  • Create staff contracts and advise payroll of starters and leavers.
  • Produce reports on sickness absence for SLT and the Governing Body.
  • Complete Occupational Health referrals when requested.
  • Supporting the Business Manager with other routine tasks, including the School Workforce Census
  • Being the first point of contact for staff reporting absence daily (mobile phone provided).
  • Plan the work of Cover Supervisors and arrange external cover supply teachers through agencies.
  • Inputting absence data into SIMS Cover module and producing daily cover reports to distribute and daily supply staff packs.
  • Meet with new supply staff on their first visit to the school and brief them on their timetable for the day. Issue them with a copy of the school's 'Supply Teacher Information Pack
  • Liaise with the appointed SLT member on all teaching staff absence cover.
  • Collating information for all staff absence requests and distributing decision slips to staff.
  • Attending weekly SLT Business meetings

  • To undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job. To contribute to the effective working of the school.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents / carers and colleagues;
  • Maintain a presence around the school to ensure that the highest standards of behaviour are upheld;
  • To participate in induction training, staff review processes and professional development opportunities;

  • The School operates a Smoke-Free Policy and the postholder is prohibited from smoking in any of the Trust buildings, enclosed spaces within the curtilage of buildings, and vehicles;
  • The postholder will be expected to have an agreed working pattern to ensure that all relevant functions are fulfilled through direct dialogue with employees, members of other agencies and community members;
  • The postholder is expected to familiarise themselves with and adhere to all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures;
  • The postholder must comply with the Trust's Health and Safety requirements specifically for the school they are working at;
  • The duties of this post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or level of responsibility entailed.

Person Specification - Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Desirable Experience of working in the Education sector, Experience of HR


Essential
GCSE Maths and English

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Excellent people skills

Demonstrate tact and persuasiveness.

Understanding of the requirements of the Data Protection Act in relation to maintaining/securing data.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Organisational skills including time management, planning, hitting deadlines, objective setting

ICT skills including use of word processing and e-communications

Demonstrate high level of accuracy in all areas of work

Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality

£20,842.00-£22,621.00 per year
