Retirement Villages is on the lookout for a Wellbeing Advisor to help maintain independence and safety for our residents in our retirement village based in Berkhamsted.

36 hours a week mainly Mon-Friday with one night shift a week.

However flexibility is important as you will have to sometimes cover shifts on the weekend.

You will be working across 2 of our villages both based in Hertfordshire, one in Rickmansworth and the other Berkhamstead.


Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Help maintain independence and safety for residents.
  • To respond to emergency calls from residents and deliver first aid response where needed.
  • To promote the health and wellbeing of older people living within the Village.
  • To carry out wellbeing assessments for residents, develop selfhelp / special interest groups and enhance the current wellbeing service.
  • To ensure a high quality service is maintained and delivered to residents, delivering first aid where necessary / liaising with emergency services or other healthcare services.
  • To document all emergency response calls, resident illnesses' / accidents and any follow up
  • Wellbeing baseline assessments should be carried out on new residents before they move into the village
  • To provide information and awareness sessions about key health issues such as osteoporosis, falls prevention, heart disease etc, promote selfhelp groups, and liaise with voluntary groups and local selfhelp groups.
  • To offer daily dropin sessions in villages where residents can call and discuss concerns and seek advice regarding their health.
  • To contribute to the village wellbeing focus group, which meets on a monthly basis, where appropriate.
  • Demonstratable experience in managing older people.
  • Experience or knowledge of primary care and referral to primary care.
  • Ability to analyse risk and respond appropriately, seeking support as and when necessary
  • In an emergency, be able to confidently assess, quickly get to and access a casualty's location
  • Hold an emergency first aid at work qualification and be able to get to the floor unaided and unassisted, and be confident and effective at: administering CPR until further help arrives, dealing with chocking incidents
  • Full understanding of supporting a resident in an emergency
  • Empathetic and an effective communicator who is emotionally resilient and diplomatic
  • Ability to work in a community setting with vulnerable older people.
