What you'll be doing

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for shaping, defining, managing, and delivering a coherent set of activities across a series of IT projects within the Thames Digital team or leading the delivery of large, complex technology enabling change projects.

They will need to be able to help define project scope, outcomes and run the project/s to the usual standards of time, quality and budget whilst engaging and managing the project/s wider stakeholders.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Lead a delivery team comprising Project Management, Business Analysis, Test Management, Service Introduction and Solution Architect capabilities
  • Define and baseline the project/s scope, plan and budget that will successfully deliver the business outcomes / objectives
  • Identify, engage, and manage direct and indirect stakeholders appropriately in context of their role
  • Establish regular project review meetings covering cost, schedule, resources, RAID and RAG statuses
  • Produce and / or review weekly project status reports
  • Resourcing (managing, forecasting, mentoring)
  • Attend project appraisal workshops / reviews and project kick off meetings
  • Maintain project/s cost models covering actual, accrual and forecast
  • Issue resolution and stakeholder management
  • Project escalation and resource prioritisation
  • Review project closure reports and attend lessons learned workshops
  • Attend the Thames Digital Gate 0 process to understand and manage demand
  • Identify and manage dependencies across projects, programmes and portfolios
  • Support and manage the project team/s to achieve objectives, milestones and deliverables
  • Identify, track, manage and resolve risks and issues within tolerance and escalate to project control board/s accordingly
  • Manage project change (scope, time, budget) within agreed tolerances or escalate changes to the project control board/s
  • Implement and manage agreed governance standards across the project/s lifecycle/s
  • Ensure all project/s follow the agreed delivery framework

What you should bring to the role:

  • Ensure stakeholders are well-informed and aligned to the project including running project boards and steering groups.
  • Implement effective governance and control to ensure informed decision making and effective delivery.
  • Clearly define, document, and deliver the project objectives relationships
  • Manage the costs of the projects within the approved budget and tolerance levels, in accordance with Thames Water standards.
  • Identify and secure the appropriate level and capability of resources required to deliver the projects
  • Completing reports as required by the investment manager of a programme, the PMO and Thames Water
  • Implementing and managing the required governance standards and boards to control the project and ensure effective delivery
  • Degree
  • Prince2 and MSP Practitioner would be beneficial
  • P3O qualification or good understanding
