An opportunity has arisen for a Trade Accountant to join the London finance team of a global Commodity Trading Company.

This is an exciting opportunity which offers exposure to a broad spectrum of financial and operational activities, in the context of afast-paced international trading desk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage daily activities for the London trading desk, including the daily P&L, accounts payable, and cash accounting. This involves working closely with the offshore accounting team, and ensuring that their work is reviewed and approved.
Responsible for a rotation of monthend processes to build up commodities accounting knowledge, such as accrual calculations, intercompany reconciliations and management reporting.
Preparation of monthly forward books and the new business mark to market P&L for physical trade activity.
Assist with ad hoc queries from trade and shipping teams
Ad hoc cyclical finance activities such as assisting in monthly cashflow forecasting, FX exposure management, and new system implementation.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
This role will suit a focused self-starter with attention to detail, an analytical thought process, and strong team ethic.

Effective communication skills, and enjoyment of teamwork are also crucial, as the role works very closely with the trade + operationsteams.

Time management and ability to prioritise workload, are also important attributes.

This role is ideally suited to a newly qualified accountant (or very close to being qualified) with strong accounting skills and a desire to learn about the commodity trading industry.

Ideally minimum of 2 years' experience from an audit or industry backgroundduring their qualifications. Exposure working in an international organisation would be an advantage.

Excellent knowledge of Excel is also essential, as there will be a high level of data manipulation to produce reports.

Knowledge of Navision and Cognos would also be an advantage.
