An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 7 Advanced Dietitian who has an interest in working with people with Mental Health conditions and Learning Disabilities.

The post holder will spread their working week between a number of services in the Northumberland area

These services include:
The Mitford unit based on the Northgate Hospital site in Morpeth

The Mental Health and Older Peoples wards at St George's Park Hospital in Morpeth

The Community Treatment Teams

The Mitford unit is a highly specialist inpatient service for adults who are on the autism spectrum, who have extremely complex needs and display challenging behaviours.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a service within our Autism and Learning Disability Business unit.

The post will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team on the wards to provide expert dietetic support for patients with autism and learning disabilities and to train the staff team.

Each ward at St George's Park hospital has a multi-disciplinary team who work together to provide rehabilitation, treatment and recovery to working aged adults and older people.

The Community Treatment Teams provide assessment and treatment by a multi-disciplinary team.

The team provides a service for adults who are experiencing difficulty with their mental health and require a period of assessment and treatment.

You will take a lead role in providing expert dietetic input to prioritise work in the clinical area and determine clinical intervention and management.

You will be responsible for management and clinical supervision of dietitians and support workers who work with you and provide expertise in dietetics and nutrition to patients and other health professionals.

You will also be given the opportunity to work on service development and lead on Trust wide projects (for example Audit of the Nutrition policy, Outcome measures).

You will receive full support from the Trustwide Dietetic Professional Manager and Team leads as well as the Advanced Dietitians working in other specialist areas.

We hold regular peer supervision, journal sessions and training sessions to ensure our practice is up to date and supported.

You will join an established Trust wide Dietetics Service which has 30 Dietitians, an Assistant Practitioner and Clinical Support Assistants.

The team has excellent links to multidisciplinary teams and nutrition and health promotion initiatives across the Trust.

We take great pride in how supportive, welcoming and friendly we are as a team, our aim is to create an environment where every member of our team can succeed.

Everyone in our service is actively encouraged to take part in projects across the Trust and in the development of the Dietetics Service including audit and promotion of the service through various events and initiatives.

Your development is important to us.

The Trust aims to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future.

In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.

The post will require travelling to various sites and parking in our Trust car parks is free.

There are hot desking offices available for Dietitians to use across the Trust and we will provide you with a laptop and smart phone to enable you to work across multiple sites and access electronic notes and diaries as needed.
