Commercial Claims Handler:


Main purpose

  • Responsible for processing and investigating liability related claims under ICW's Contractors Combined and Property Owners Insurance products.
  • Other duties may involve assisting with the processing and investigating claims under ICW's structural warranty policy and consumer code.

Key Duties

  • To review claim notifications in accordance with policy wordings.
  • To obtain and verify information enabling a valid claim to be correctly recorded.
  • To proactively handle the claim from first notification to conclusion while managing expectations or repudiating if required.
  • To provide comprehensive verbal and written advice on all aspects of policy wording in relation to cover and claims.
  • To finalise settlement amount in respect of claims.
  • To adhere to all agreed service level agreements and internal claims processes.
  • To share best practice with team members and liaise with other departments including Underwriting, Survey and Technical.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 1 Year previous experience working as a liability Claims Handler.
  • 5 GCSEs grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent NVQ.
  • Advanced IT skills

Requirements of Role

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required as the role will involve working with homeowners, professionals, and colleagues to ensure a claim is valid;
  • Must be organised with ability to work under pressure, proactively manage expectations, meet timescales and deliver correct decisions; and
  • Strong negotiation skills are essential with ability to use own initiative while working in a team and liaising with other internal departments.
