Hertfordshire Community Foundation (HCF) is an independent charity which encourages local philanthropy.

We provide advice and giving options for donors which we transform into funding and support for small charities, voluntary groups and individuals in Hertfordshire.

By making local giving easy we strengthen our local communities and improve the lives of vulnerable people.

HCF are one of 47 community foundations in the UK and one of nearly 2,000 across the globe. Since 1988, we have built an endowment of c. £13 million as a community asset to benefit Hertfordshire and its people now and for generations to come.

The role of HCF in support of the Hertfordshire charitable sector is particularly important as the county faces worsening economic and social challenges, whilst the ongoing impact of the pandemic is still being felt and the cost of living crisis is impacting local lives.

We are looking for an outstanding leader to work with the trustees, the office team and wider community leaders to realise the strategic vision for HCF.

Maximising existing and new opportunities and working closely with our Head of Philanthropy, our new Chief Executive will build close personal relationships with key donors, funders and partners alike.

The CEO will also raise our profile and represent the organisation across a broad range of stakeholders across Hertfordshire, from local grassroots partners to local government and MPs.

Working with the Board, the CEO will also provide support and development for our staff, and oversee a collaborative and inclusive culture where the whole team can thrive.

We are looking for a highly effective ambassador for those in need of support, who brings:

Passion for the work of HCF and an affinity with the county Excellent leadership skills with the ability to think and act both tactically and strategically.

Experience of developing sustainable income growth strategies Solid relationship-building, networking and profile-raising skills.

This role is a unique opportunity to play an instrumental role in tackling social inequalities and deprivation, in order to make a lasting impact in Hertfordshire's community.
