Job Title:
Residential Support Worker


Location:
Newark, Nottingham


Salary:
£29,580 including Sleep ins


Shifts:
Mon-Sun, including BH, 40 hours per week excluding sleeps


Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to achieve or hold the NVQ Level 4 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an equivalent.


Experience:
No specific experience is required, however, you must have the desire to work with Looked After Children, be resilient and flexible


Skills:
Strong verbal communication is essential as you need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the Young People and the Adult team


UK Driving Licence:
Required/Essential


The Home:
A 3 Bed for YPs aged 7 to 17 on admission, specifically designed as a Therapeutic EBD Home.

The provider is a well-established regional provider with homes across Nottingham.


Purpose:

The Residential Support Worker (RSW) is responsible for ensuring that the physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological, and social needs of children are met consistently to a high standard.

The RSW complies fully with all statutory and regulatory guidance in conjunction with the provider's policies, procedures, and practices. Working on a shift pattern, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleeping-in duties.


Accountability:
Residential Support Workers are directly accountable to the Deputy and Registered Manager.


Principal duties and responsibilities & Care for Children**:

  • Improve the lives of children and young people in care.
  • Model relationshipbased caregiving in all interactions.
  • Establish caring, secure relationships with children.
  • Implement admission protocols to ensure children feel welcomed and informed.
  • Work closely with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings.
  • Fulfil tasks outlined in care plans within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure timely completion of records, assessments, and reports.
  • Engage children in the role of a key worker.
  • Undertake direct work with young people and act as a role model.
  • Meet health, education, and training needs of children.
  • Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Model and promote respect for the caregiving environment.
  • Ensure children have access to advocacy and children's rights services.
  • Attend meetings to support children and advocate for them.
  • Ensure the physical security of the home.
