HOME CARE WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

Location:
The Home Care Worker will work in the service user's home and in the local community
Main aim of Job
- We aim to promote independence and personal dignity whilst providing the highest quality of care with respect for those people requiring to our support
Skills
- Good communication skills with service users who may have some degree of communication difficulties.
- To be able to perform basic personal care tasks necessary for daytoday living.
- Good housekeeping skills.
- To have the ability to communicate with other key professionals from various organisations.
- Have the Care Certificate qualification. We will train all our staff who do not have the qualification
Key Responsibilities
- Personal care: Assist with personal hygiene, washing assistance with using the toilet, assistance with incontinence inc. pads, commodes and catheter bags.
- Support with eating and drinking: Ensuring that clients are encouraged to eat a healthy, balanced diet and the correct quantities, prepared meals look appetising and make sure the way they eat is appropriate for the client
- To assist with mobility including use of wheelchairs, hoists etc
- To respect the personal choice and lifestyles of colleagues, carers, and people with care needs, ensuring that Equal Opportunity principles are always applied.
- To help clean the home for example: washing up, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom and doing laundry.
- To provide emotional support, companionship and a safe environment for those in need of supervision and help.
- The safe handling of any equipment provided to ensure safe work practice.
- The safe handling and usage of property and equipment belonging to the service user. Collection of personal monies for service user e.g. pensions.
- To report any concerns about abuse or the welfare or safety of any adult to the Manager or person on call.
Key Objectives
- Present for work at the time scheduled.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard and provided according to the care plan.
- Accurately record the time spent and the work undertaken, on timesheets, work schedules and on service users record books. (as instructed by the manager).
- Record the outcome and condition of the Service user as appropriate.
- Notify the manager of any changes in the Service user condition immediately.
- Maintain the confidentiality of the Service user.
- Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene and integrity.
- Wear the uniform provided freshly laundered and in good repair.
- Account for money spent in shopping by producing receipts and record all money transactions on the Income & Expenditure form in the Service user's file.
- Regularly attend training and education courses as provided by the Company.
- Participate in regular supervisions & annual reviews and appraisals.

Job Type:
Part-time
Part-time hours: 10-20 per week
Salary:
£10.00-£14.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Face masks are to be worn. We supply face masks and any other sanitising material.
We also require our care workers to have regular COVID Tests and we supply these test kits to all our staff.
