Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of families? Do you have experience in providing support and guidance to families in need? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team at West Berkshire Council as a Family Support Worker.


As a Family Support Worker, you will work closely with the Family Hub Manager to deliver a range of services and support to families within the local community.


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to families, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes
  • Conducting assessments to identify the needs of families and develop appropriate support plans
  • Signposting families to relevant services and resources, ensuring they have access to the support they require
  • Collaborating with external agencies and professionals to coordinate multiagency support for families
  • Facilitating group activities and workshops to promote positive parenting and family wellbeing

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting families and improving outcomes for children
  • Previous experience in a similar family support or social care role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, enabling you to effectively manage a caseload of families
  • A nonjudgmental and empathetic approach, respecting the diversity and individuality of each family
